About

Hello, I'm Stuart MacLeod - a photographer and videographer based in Brighton, UK, although I will travel to wherever, to film whatever.

​

I have over 20 years of experience in photography, filming and editing for various organisations and individuals, worldwide. I specialise in educational and promotional content, specifically in a behind-the-scenes style.

​​​

I also worked for 10 years as a Digital Communications Manager, for an international development consultancy and training organisation. I produced interactive educational content for a wide range of international organisations including government ministries, INGOs, NGOs, research institutes, UN agencies and the private sector.

​

What I especially enjoy about film making, is using music to enhance a visual story, that engages and entertains the viewer.

Experience

I have been a volunteer video editor at Kiya Survivors since 2010, I have made lots of informational and fundraising films and was invited to Peru in 2012 to document the latest news.

I have produced behind-the-scenes films for The Royal National Lifeboats Institute (RNLI), one for an advertising campaign photography shoot and another for a stability safety training film.

I edited a short documentary of Liam Friary & Matua Murupaenga's 'Tiki tour by bike' of Pou Herenga Tai/Twin Coast cycle trail, New Zealand.

I have produced promotional content for The Bison Beach Bar including a 'Fireworks night celebration' and a 'Bison to Beak (brewery)' awareness raising campaign.

I filmed and produced video content for a social media campaign for Unbarred brewery.

​

I played the lead role, as an actor, in the film; "Job Seeking in RBWM Libraries"

 

I have filmed and photographed at multiple weddings, and subsequently I have also edited multiple wedding videos.

I have done various photography jobs cafes, decorators, gardeners and Air B'n'B properties.

I have filmed poetry videos and events including; Hannah Gordon at the 'Spoken word anti-hate festival' at the Bunker in London, UK and 'Noah Assupmtions' at the Trans Pride festival in Brighton, UK

I have filmed and produced a video for a 'Sports day' event in Brighton, UK.

Music

​

I filmed and photographed Fatboy Slim at The Arch, Brighton, which included a 360° hyperlase cable cam shot above his decks.

​

I was invited by The Sharik Hasan Trio, to film them on tour in India for an Alliance Français cultural exchange festival.

I am the official photographer and videographer for 'DJ Stan Boogie'.

Since 2015, I have filmed and photographed a band called 'Duncan Disorderly & the Scallywags' at many gigs, studio sessions and at the Small World festival. I also photographed their studio for promotional purposes.

Digital communication

​

I was a Digital Communications Manager at IMA International for 10 years - I was responsible for managing website, social media platforms and creating video content for promotion and training.

​

Online learning platform development.  Designed and managed online training courses which include multiple hours of video content and interactive online webinars. 

​

Website design and development. Responsible for designing and building multiple websites, including creating content, improving SEO and ensuring mobile friendly accessibility.

UNIDO development and production of remote film footage showing sustainable fisheries planning in various communities of Red Sea State (RSS), Sudan. This is for advocacy and project documentation for Marine Fisheries Authority (MFA), RSS University, RSS Research Institute, UNIDO and the Norwegian Embassy.

For FAO Bangladesh to produce a video that highlights Food and Nutrition Security policy advocacy and communication techniques adapted by ministries to reposition and mainstream nutrition as part of overall technical support to cross sectoral and sectoral policies. Specifically, to prepare video outline; film during feedback workshop and interview other stakeholders in Bangladesh; produce and edit video.

Belgium (Brussels)

Videographer/photographer.  Documenting a two part Knowledge Management training course for APEFE.  Used for reflection, learning and advertising their efforts to develop a Knowledge Management strategy.

​

UK (Brighton)

Videographer/photographer.  Documenting a two part, large scale facilitation (70+ people) with the International HIV/AIDS Alliance. Used for reflection, learning and sharing internally to observe progress from the initial workshop.

South Africa (Cape Town)

Videographer/photographer. Film and photograph participants attending an IMA training course to assist with reflection and learning.  Also filmed fieldwork data collection methods being implemented in a township.

Bangladesh (Dhaka/ Cox’s Bazar)

Videographer/photographer.  With the IMA and FAO team, designed, filmed and edited a reflective video input for the Global Agricultural Food Security Programme in Bangladesh highlighting the work, journey and stories of the project with particular emphasis on the capacity strengthening component of the Integrated Agricultural Productivity Project

Video editor. Provided technical and creative editing support for a SEAFDEC Ecosystems Approach to Fisheries management video project.

Education

​

I completed a video editor internship at Travizeo, a travel video company. I was responsible for editing a number of travel videos.

​

For my university dissertation project, I made a documentary about Youtube and the relationship it has with the developing world, called 'YouTube World Order'; the university published an article in the university magazine about it due to its innovative medium and message.

​

I studied Media Studies at GCSE, Photography at A Level and have a BSc degree in International Relations.

​
